The SRNE Shiner 2430 30A MPPT Solar Charge Controller provides efficient solar battery charging for campervans, motorhomes, caravans, boats and off-grid electrical systems. Designed for 12V and 24V battery installations, it uses Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology to maximise the energy harvested from connected solar panels.

Unlike conventional PWM solar controllers, MPPT technology continuously adjusts the solar panel operating point to extract more available power, particularly during changing sunlight conditions. With a maximum charging current of 30A, the Shiner 2430 is suitable for leisure battery systems requiring reliable solar charging throughout the day.

The controller supports lithium and lead-acid batteries, including LiFePO4, AGM and GEL types, with configurable charging parameters. Bluetooth monitoring through the optional SRNE BT-2 module allows users to view solar charging performance and battery information using a compatible smartphone app.

A dedicated 20A DC load output provides additional control over connected equipment, while multiple communication interfaces make the controller suitable for integration into more advanced electrical systems.

Installation Information

The SRNE Shiner 2430 is installed between the solar panels and leisure battery to regulate charging and protect the battery from unsuitable charging conditions.

The battery should be connected before the solar panel input, following the manufacturer's installation sequence. Suitable cable sizes, fuses and isolation arrangements must be used, and the solar array's maximum open-circuit voltage must remain within the controller's specified limit, including in cold weather.

The controller should be mounted in a dry, ventilated location with sufficient clearance for natural cooling. Bluetooth functionality requires the compatible SRNE BT-2 module, which should be confirmed as included or purchased separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SRNE Shiner 2430 regulates power from solar panels to charge a 12V or 24V battery safely and efficiently. Its MPPT technology continually adjusts the solar panel operating point to maximise available energy, making it particularly useful for campervan, motorhome and off-grid solar installations.

Yes. The Shiner 2430 supports LiFePO4 lithium batteries, alongside AGM, GEL and flooded lead-acid batteries. Its adjustable charging parameters allow the controller to be configured according to the battery manufacturer's requirements.

The Shiner 2430 supports Bluetooth monitoring through the optional SRNE BT-2 Bluetooth module. When connected, users can monitor compatible solar charging and battery information through a smartphone app. The Bluetooth module is an external accessory rather than a built-in feature.

The Shiner 2430 supports solar arrays up to 400W on a 12V battery system or 800W on a 24V system, according to the manufacturer's specifications. Solar panels can be connected in suitable series or parallel configurations, provided the array remains within the controller's voltage and current limits.

An MPPT solar charge controller adjusts its operating point to extract the maximum available power from connected solar panels. A conventional PWM controller does not perform this tracking, so an MPPT controller can harvest more energy under suitable conditions, particularly when solar panel voltage is significantly higher than battery voltage.

Yes. The Shiner 2430 is suitable for campervan and motorhome solar installations using compatible 12V or 24V leisure batteries. Its compact design, silent fanless operation and configurable charging settings make it a practical option for maintaining battery charge while parked or camping off-grid.

Yes. The controller includes a dedicated 20A DC load output for suitable electrical equipment. It supports configurable operating modes, including manual and light-controlled operation. Higher-current equipment, such as inverters, should be connected through an appropriately protected battery circuit rather than the controller's load terminals.

Yes. The Shiner 2430 can operate alongside a compatible DC-DC leisure battery charger, allowing the battery to receive charge from solar panels and the vehicle's alternator charging system. Both chargers must be correctly installed and configured for the battery type, with suitable wiring and circuit protection.
