69ltr VW Transporter Underslung Water Tank for T5 / T6.1 2003-Present

The Wydale 69 Litre VW Transporter Underslung Water Tank is a vehicle-specific water storage tank designed to fit Volkswagen Transporter T5, T6 and T6.1 vans from 2003 onwards.

Designed to mount in front of the spare wheel, the tank provides a useful 69 litre nominal water capacity while retaining the vehicle's spare wheel. This makes it an excellent solution for campervan conversions where you want to maximise onboard water storage without taking up valuable space inside the vehicle.

Manufactured by Wydale Plastics, the tank is specifically shaped around the underside of the VW Transporter and measures approximately 1000mm long × 960mm wide × 225mm high.

Vehicle Compatibility

This Wydale 69 litre underslung tank is designed for:

• Volkswagen Transporter T5 – 2003 onwards
• Volkswagen Transporter T6
• Volkswagen Transporter T6.1
• Fits in front of the spare wheel
• Not suitable for 4Motion models

Because the tank fits in front of the spare wheel rather than replacing it, the vehicle can retain its original spare wheel arrangement. Wydale specifically excludes 4Motion vans from compatibility with this tank.

For a 4Motion Transporter, Wydale offers its separate 68 litre spare-wheel-position tank, which is designed to fit in place of the spare wheel and is compatible with 4Motion vehicles.

Factory-Fitted 1/2" BSP Connections

The tank incorporates 1/2" BSP threaded connection points for connecting it to the vehicle's water system.

Wydale's technical drawing identifies 1/2" BSPP outlet connections on the tank.

This provides dedicated connection positions without having to determine the main outlet location yourself.

Optional Vehicle-Specific Fitting Kits

Wydale offers dedicated fitting kits specifically for installing the 69 litre tank beneath a VW Transporter.

Adding Additional Inlets, Outlets & Breathers

Additional connections can be added if your particular water system requires another filler inlet, outlet, breather/overflow, drain, level sensor or other tank fitting.

When using a conventional tank fitting, remember that a nut and sealing washer normally need to be fitted from inside the tank. Always make sure the proposed position can be reached internally through the access lid before drilling.

Alternatively, a suitable Wydale KwiQ fitting can be used where appropriate. This allows an additional connection to be installed without needing to reach inside the tank to secure a separate nut and washer.
