Make emptying your motorhome, campervan or caravan water tank quicker, cleaner and more convenient with this 1" BSP 12V motorised drain valve. Suitable for both fresh water and grey waste systems, it allows the tank outlet to be opened and closed remotely without having to crawl underneath the vehicle.

Unlike a solenoid valve, the motorised ball valve fully opens the bore, helping to maintain a good flow rate while making it better suited to gravity-fed tank drainage and grey waste systems. It does not require water pressure to operate and only draws power while the valve is opening or closing.

The valve uses a simple two-wire 12V DC connection, with the polarity reversed to change the direction of operation. This makes it suitable for installation with an appropriate ON-OFF-ON reversing rocker switch, relay system or control panel.

For additional protection in exposed installations, the valve is IP67 rated, making it well suited to underbody installations on motorhomes, campervans, caravans and expedition vehicles.

A built-in manual override also means the valve can still be operated if the vehicle loses power. Simply pull the white knob and rotate it to manually open or close the valve.

Features

  • 12V DC motorised drain valve
  • 1" BSP female connections
  • Suitable for fresh water and grey waste tanks
  • IP67 rated
  • Full-bore opening for unrestricted drainage
  • Manual override for operation without electrical power
  • Two-wire reverse-polarity operation
  • Only consumes power while opening or closing

Why Choose a Motorised Valve?

A motorised ball valve offers several advantages over a conventional solenoid valve for tank drainage. When open, the ball valve provides a full-bore flow path, reducing restriction and allowing tanks to drain efficiently.

Motorised operation is also particularly useful for low-pressure and gravity-fed systems, as the valve does not rely on water pressure to operate. For grey waste applications, the open bore is better suited to dealing with small amounts of debris that may be present in the wastewater.

Manual Override

If the 12V electrical supply is unavailable, the valve can still be operated manually.

Simply pull the white override knob and rotate it to operate the valve by hand. This provides a useful backup for emergencies, maintenance or electrical faults.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The valve is particularly well suited to motorhome and campervan grey waste tank drainage. Its full-bore ball valve design provides a less restricted flow path than many solenoid valves.

Yes. It can be used as an electrically operated drain valve on suitable fresh water tank systems as well as grey waste installations.

The valve is IP67 rated, providing a high level of protection against dust and water ingress. This makes it suitable for many exposed and underbody leisure vehicle installations. Sensible positioning and additional protection from direct road spray and impact are still recommended where practical.

No. The motor operates the ball valve independently of the water pressure, making it suitable for gravity-fed tank drainage systems.

The valve has two wires, red and black, and operates by reversing the polarity of the 12V DC supply. An appropriate reversing switch, such as an ON-OFF-ON DPDT rocker switch, can be used to control it.

The valve incorporates a manual override. Pull the white knob and rotate it to manually operate the valve if electrical power is unavailable.
