Campervan Water & Heating System Layout Overview

So, let’s talk heating, it’s a very appropriate topic at this time of year.

The Truma Combi is by far the most popular of the models we sell, you’ll read comments that there are cheaper “versions” available from overseas, but let’s face it, you can’t beat the real deal.
The main point for consideration is what fuel you plan to use for the main power source for the unit?
There are 2 options, Gas/LPG & Diesel. The current trend seems to be for the diesel models, you need to be aware that these require considerably more 12v power for the ignition system than their gas counterparts. The diesel models also have an external fuel pump, these have been updated on the Gen2 models but may still produce a “ticking” sound that can be annoying.
With the latest Truma models coming with their iNet X control panel, you’ll be happy to know that your unit can also be controlled from your smartphone, perfect for setting remotely.
The newest models also come with a Frost Control Valve included, some sellers will remove this from the package to reduce the price, watch out for this when considering what’s included and where to purchase.
There are a few parts that can make the installation of your Truma Combi a little more straightforward-
An elbow that fits directly into the boiler outlets, handy if you need to make a turn which is too tight for the ducting to make. Click here
A specific blanking plug that allows you to cap off the hot air outlets, the amount you can close off depends on the boiler model, you must clarify this first. Click here
You MUST fit a non-return/check valve into the cold feed pipework to the boiler, strangely, this is not included in the package from Truma (see the layout overview for where it needs to be fitted). Click Here

The fact that this unit is an all-in-one product, can also be an attractive proposition. Many people want something that is straight forward to install, there are alternative options that comprise of multiple components, but this can sometimes be a little confusing when choosing layout & installation options.
We have a broad range of options available for different requirements and vehicles, there are people with varying budgets and this can be a limiting factor. Have a look at our online store, we’re likely to have an option that suits your needs.
